Our organisations are coming together to serve older Australians.
This will increase total Residential Aged Care operations to ~5,300 beds, 46 homes and ~7,500 staff operating across NSW, QLD, VIC and SA.
Importantly, this announcement does not change day-to-day operations. Residents will continue to see the same familiar faces, and team members will continue in their current roles.
What this means right now is that care continues as normal. Our focus remains firmly on resident care and supporting our teams to deliver the same high standard of service every day.
Caring for older Australians is an incredible privilege and one that our organisations proudly share. We already value and respect the dignity, choices and individual needs of those we serve, and this will remain at the heart of everything we do.
Over time, by bringing our strengths together, we will enhance access to chaplaincy and pastoral care in more locations, continue investing in palliative care capability, and share best practice across our homes.
When does Anglicare officially take over operations?
Completion of the agreement (day one of our combined operations) is expected around May 2026.
There will be a period of transition that will occur through 2026 and beyond, with regular updates and minimal disruption to residents and staff.
What are the benefits for staff?
With a broader, national network we can offer:
Greater career mobility and development pathways
Increased investment in training and capability building
Access to salary packaging (as a not-for-profit)
Shared learning across states
As a not-for-profit, staff will be able to access salary packaging benefits. Salary packaging allows you to pay for certain everyday expenses — like your mortgage or rent, groceries, insurance, and even meals — using your pre-tax income. This reduces the amount of tax you pay and increases the amount you take home each pay cycle. The tax free cap for charities and not-for-profit organisations is $15,900.
We’ll learn from each other and continue investing in our capabilities, particularly in palliative and dementia care.
By becoming part of a broader national network, we’ll be better positioned to remain financially sustainable and invest in our systems, our people and enhancing resident care. This helps ensure we can continue to grow and strengthen the support available to residents and teams.
How will this affect residents and families?
Resident care remains the top priority, and there is no change to the consistency of care or those who serve you every day.
The priority is to ensure the same trusted teams and quality of care residents know and rely on, every single day, continue as normal.
Over time, we will bring together the best of Anglicare’s Rhythm of Life person-centred approach and Infinite Care’s One Community program.
We will also:
Expand access to chaplaincy and pastoral care
Invest further in palliative care capability
Share dementia care best practice across homes
Ensure residents will not experience disruption to their care.
Where will head office be located?
There will be no single physical ‘head office’, current work locations are unchanged.
Leaders will continue to work from their local office and collaborate both online and in person as required.
What does this mean for the Vision, Mission and Values of our organisations?
Anglicare Sydney’s vision remains unchanged, to serve people in need, enrich lives and strengthen communities. Across our organisations, we share a strong commitment to compassionate, respectful and person-centred care. That shared commitment unites us.
Over time, we will work together to articulate what our combined residential aged care purpose looks like, ensuring it aligns with Anglicare’s vision while also reflecting the strengths, diversity and identity of our expanded team.
Anglicare serves all people – no matter their life stage or circumstance, background or religious affiliation – and our team members and volunteers are as wonderfully diverse as the communities we serve.
How will communication be managed?
Information can be found on our dedicated website (caretogether.org.au), via employee intranets, regular email bulletins, webinars, regularly-updated FAQs, a new dedicated email address (questions@caretogether.org.au), on-site briefings and notice boards.
Will there be changes to care models or programs like Anglicare’s Rhythm of Life or Infinite Care’s One Community program?
There are no immediate plans to change models of care. The commitment to holistic, person-centred care remains.
Over time, we will bring together the best of Anglicare’s Rhythm of Life person-centred approach and Infinite Care’s One Community program.
What about volunteers?
Volunteers remain vital. There are no changes to processes, scheduling or local engagement.
We look forward to building new partnerships with churches in QLD, VIC, and SA, as well as connecting with volunteers in those communities.
What about chaplaincy services?
Chaplaincy and spiritual care are core services and a key part of Anglicare’s Christian mission and identity.
As part of this, we will enhance chaplaincy and pastoral care services in more locations, providing residents and staff with greater access to spiritual support, if they wish.
What will happen to the brands?
Across our network, both Anglicare Sydney and Infinite Care are well-established and respected brands within their local communities. Following completion of the acquisition, homes will continue operating under their existing brands.
Over time, we will thoughtfully consider how our brands are positioned in different regions to ensure clarity and consistency within local markets. Any future branding changes, if they occur, would be carefully planned, introduced gradually, and communicated well in advance with local teams.
Our focus remains on continuity of care and supporting our teams. Branding does not change the people, leadership or quality of care within each home.
Does Anglicare, as a Christian provider, only have Christian residents or Christian staff?
No, our services are not exclusive to Christians.
Anglicare’s Christian mission centres on the desire to demonstrate the love of Jesus through practical care to all people.
Every person is valuable and deserving of respect, because they are made in the image of God.
Anglicare has always served a diverse group of residents, from many different cultural and faith backgrounds including no faith. The same care and respect is shown to all.
For staff, Anglicare is committed to embracing diversity, promoting equity, and nurturing a culture of belonging.
Our team members and volunteers are as wonderfully diverse as the communities we serve.
